Ok, after all this time, lets face it: homemade arrows, are UNSAFE, intrinsically unsafe, no matter your good intentions, they are dangerous as fuck, There are CE complying arrows and arrow heads, with better performance and safer, hand made boffers, and arrow boffers are rubbish.

Idk which larp allows cored throwing weapons, but that throwing axe would be illegal in Amtgard.

Here in Brazil, the agent coats the bow with foam and uses it to defend attacks and the sword to attack, unfortunately the rules in Brazil do not allow shooting in the head, more for safety reasons

You should have a look at you foot work mate. All this jumping up in the air makes it hard for you to quickly change direction and move around your opponent. As specially when he got 2 weapons, you wanna be forcing him to turn constantly cus just facing each other leaves you at a big disadvantage.

Another general combat concept I learned watching a Mike Tyson video: look at what’s endangering you. In sports like football, we are always told to look at the hips to tell where our opponent is going. I mistakenly brought this into my fights thinking I’d be predicting my opponent’s moves. The problem with my logic was that a sword or other weapon can move towards you regardless of where their hips are going. Mike said to the kid in the video he was training, “Don’t look at the guy’s feet. His feet can’t hit you.” Always look at your opponents weapons, dodge or parry, and strike where their weapons aren’t.

The part of a revolver you are referring to in your comparison is called the cylinder not the barrel. I also saw your "correction" calling it chamber which would only refer to the one that is lined up with the firing pin and barrel. Great design 👌 For arrow storage however drawing from the head of an arrow is slower than the drawing from the notch.

I shot on the left side because I was self taught and started on the left so left is more natural than right to me

I've never saw distance rules in LARPs I've played either. But I avoid the sword. I prefer keeping 1 or 2 extra arrows in my bow's hand, and shoot everything at once, aiming for the legs. Your chances to really hurt the other player are quite low with multiples arrows / low strenght shot when you're aiming down, and it increase the chances for you to hit the target (the shot is hard to dodge). Depending of the rules, you can eventually deal more damages like that. Then you just run for your life, because as an archer you are not supposed to fight in close combat, even against a wounded opponent. You let your partners take out your ennemy while your dealing with orhers with your main weapon. First : Train to shoot while you're walking. You have better chances of survivng a battle if you always walk calmly, shooting regulary while reading the flow of the battle than if you stay focused and still then suddently run because you realise that you are surrounded. Once you have this abillity, try to improve your rate of fire. It's difficult because of the blunt of the arrow, the stress, especially when you are walking. Then, train yourself against moving targets, not static ones. Nobody just wait to get shot in LARP battles, so you need to work your accuracy on running people. But the firing rate is more important than accuracy when you are shooting along a squad. A small team of archers can do a really good work of crowd controll on bigger squads. You generally need to threat and slow down your target with a rain of arrows more than doing a bull's eye (depending of the rules, but I rarely see a LARP when one arrow is enough to kill your target.) I use a very short mongolian bow for this. Very maniable, quick, and helpful in short range. I train with a squad of archers with the same gear (moving tactics, roll shooting...), and we often train along other groups with a more close combat approach to learn how to move and where to be in battle. The bow usually does less damages than other weapons in LARP. So you need to think about your target prior to shoot the first opponent. Maybe sneaking and killing this wizzard in the distance is more helpfull for your army than emptying your quiver on Mr Shieldman.

How interesting. We don't use any distance rules for bows. Having a backup sword is just way more effective for close ranges than the bow.

You shouldn’t say blocking isn’t a good way to get an opening you can slide along your enemy’s blade like say he moment when you shows yourself blocking you could have ducked then keep on moving forward
